Salt Lake City- UTAH

Dzień 9 i 10/ Day 9 and 10
7. i 8. marca/ 7th and 8th of March
Piątek i sobota/ Friday and Saturday
Utah

W mieście znajduje się świątynia, budowana w latach 1853-1893, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Museum of Church History and Art a także kilka innych muzeów.
Zobaczyłam, widziałam i tyle. No cóż, bobslej musi poczekać.
-----------------
Salt Lake City, often shortened to Salt Lake or SLC, is the capital and the most populous city in the state of Utah. With an estimated population of 189,314 in 2012,  the city lies in the core of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, which has a total population of 1,175,905. Salt Lake City is further situated in a larger urban area known as the Wasatch Front, which has a population of 2,350,274. It is one of only two major urban areas in the Great Basin (the other being Reno, Nevada), and the largest in the Intermountain West.
The city was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young, Isaac Morley, George Washington Bradley and several other Mormon followers, who extensively irrigated and cultivated the arid valley. Although Salt Lake City is still home to the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), less than half the population of Salt Lake City proper are members of the LDS Church today.
Immigration of international LDS members, mining booms, and the construction of Salt Lake City is the headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and has many LDS-related sites open to visitors. The most popular is Temple Square, which includes the Salt Lake Temple (not open to the general public) and visitors’ centers that are open to the public, free of charge. Temple Square also includes the historic Tabernacle, home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The modern LDS Conference Center is across the street to the north. The Family History Libr-ary, the largest genealogical library in the world, is located just west of Temple Square. It is run by the LDS Church and is open to the public and free of charge. Adjacent to Temple Square is also the Eagle Gate Monument.
Actually we didn’t plan to go to Salt Lake City, but to Aspen and Denver in Colorado (I wanted to go there), but it was really far away, and we would have spent there maybe half a day and not having snowboard or skii gear would be just pointless. So I made my mind that I will go to Aspen one day I will be rich and we drove north to the city of mormons. When I asked Wikipedia about city attractions, I was told only about Temple. Little boring, but let them a chance. Temple itself is nice and impressive (a lot of money) and besides, there is really nothing interesting in the city. Nice city hall, similar to the one in San Francisco (and I guess in million different US cities), cute houses on the hills and something more? I don’t think so.. City itself is very tidy and clean. You can tell it is taken care of, but on the same side it is empty and sad. Definetely it is not a city that I would like to come back to, but I also I didn’t want to come here very much, ore out of being couriuos. The city is boring and the Temple is really the only attraction there. Remember when I was in Oakland to see this big mormon temple? Neither do I, so here you have a link to refresh your memory-http://agasieracka.blogspot.com/2013/12/oakland.html. There you can read what it is all about mormons.
I nearly forgot! Attraction in SLC is option to see the olimpics objects and possibility to ride in a boblsled (4 people including instructor)! That's the offeer- "In less than a mile, you'll rip through 15 turns, reach speeds up to 80 mph, and experience up to 5 G's of force". I was very intrigued and I wanted to do it, so I checek online and was ready to pay but gues what? The price is 200 $!!!! Insane. You can buy a nice bag for the same price! ;-) but being serious (ok, I was serious about bag too..), I think that paying so much money for X seconds bobsley ride is too expensive (f.e. plane ticket from Oakland to Las Vegas is cheaper and costs 150 $ for round trip). Shame, cause I wanted to try it, but well, bobled has to wait.
