Jezioro Powell- to sztuczny zbiornik wodny na rzece Kolorado, w USA. Znajduje się na pograniczu stanów Utah i Arizona. Uważane za jeden z najpiękniejszych sztucznych zbiorników wodnych na świecie. Nazwa jeziora pochodzi od nazwiska Johna Wesleya Powella, amerykańskiego geologa, podróżnika i odkrywcy. Do jeziora Powella wpływają rzeki Kolorado, San Juan i Escalante.

Za wjazd musiałyśmy płacić15$, co jest totalnie nieopłacalne i bezsensowne. Fajny widok przez chwilę z góry na jezioro i tamę, a dalej objechałyśmy jezioro w aucie i to by było na tyle z atrakcji. Jeśli ktoś się zastanawia, będąc w okolicy, czy by tam nie pojechać- odpowiedź brzmi raczej nie. Nakręcono tam ponad 45 seriali i filmów, a najbardziej znane to:

• John Carter (2012)
• Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut and The Wedding of River Song (2011)
• "Planeta małp" (obie wersje z 1968 i z 2001)
• Maverick (1994)

Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona (most of it, along with Rainbow Bridge, is in Utah). It is a major vacation spot that around 2 million people visit every year. It is the second largest man-made reservoir, by maximum water capacity, in the United States behind Lake Mead, storing 24,322,000 acre feet (3.0001×10¹⁰ m³) of water when full. Lake Powell was created by the flooding of Glen Canyon by the controversial Glen Canyon Dam, which also led to the creation of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a popular summer destination. The reservoir is named for explorer John Wesley Powell, a one-armed American Civil War veteran who explored the river via three wooden boats in 1869. In 1972, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area was established. It is public land managed by the National Park Service, and available to the public for recreational purposes. It lies in parts of Garfield, Kane, and San Juan counties in southern Utah, and Coconino County in northern Arizona. The northern limits of the lake extend at least as far as the Hite Crossing Bridge. We had to pay for entrance fee 15 $- it is not worth it. There was nice view for a moment on the lake and a dam, but then we drove round the lake in a car and that was all. If someone would wonder if to go there, the answer is no. But Lake Powell has been a shooting location for 45 television series and films, including:

• Planet of the Apes (both 1968 and 2001 versions)
• Maverick (1994)

Strawberry lunch

The Oscars- popołudniem zrobiłyśmy sobie wolne od zwiedzania, żeby dojechać do motelu i obejrzeć 86. galę rozdania Oscarów. Pierwszy raz udało mi się je obejrzeć w całości, o normalnym czasie, a nie nad ranem w Polsce. o 16 naszego czasu zaczęła się transmisja i do po 22 siedziałyśmy przez telewizorem jak zahipnotywowane. Tegoroczną imprezę poprowadziła Ellen Degeneres (znana z prowadzenia swojego autorskiego progrmau „The Ellen show”, świetnego talk- show) i zrobiła to z takim fajnym poczuciem humoru, że śmiałysmy się w głos cały czas. Polecam obejrzenie transmisji, a z osobistych wyborów, strasznie mi przykro i żal, że Oscara nie dostał Leonardo Di Capro, bo rola w „Wilku z Wolf Street” była jedną z lepszych jego kreacji aktorskich, szkoda.

In the afternoon we took some time off from travelling to go to our hostel and watch the Oscars. I had a chance to watch it for the first time at some normal time, not in the middle of the night like in Poland. It started at 4 our time and I had so much fun watching Ellen Degeneres as a host, she is an amaziningly funny woman. If you like the Oscars, you definetely should watch it all somewhere online, it’s worth to spend around 4 hours for that. And I feel sorry and little sad that Leonardo Di Caprio didn’t get an award for his creation in the „Wolf of Wolf Street”- I think it was one of his best movie.
